About
Anime For Humanity

Anime For Humanity is a 501©(3) charity non-profit dedicated to using Anime and Cosplay as a medium to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health. We attend conventions all over the nation to meet people face to face, start conversations that spark change, and hand out resources to anyone looking for support and community.

Mission
Our Why

There are many who suffer from mental health issues silently. They might not be ready to reach out, know where to look for help, or find the courage to step into therapy. Our mission is to reach them and provide them with hope and the mental health resources they need. Taking time to understand their mental illness and celebrate what brings us together in conventions can be one of the most direct ways we can reduce social isolation and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health.

GIVE

Your gift will help us provide Anime Therapy kits to therapists, anime clubs, and someone who might be looking for help and not know where to find it.

Volunteer

Our volunteers are a reminder to those experiencing mental health challenges that it’s okay to not be okay and that healing is possible and available.

Our Vision

We believe that Anime and Cosplay give us an opportunity to move people from silence to honesty, from isolation to community, from pain to hope and healing. Our vision is to use anime as a tool to create a world where mental illness is understood, effectively treated, and ultimately prevented.

Our Values

  • Acceptance: Every person, regardless of their disability, race, ethnicity, gender, age, economic status, or sexual orientation, has the right and responsibilities to full potential in our society, the right to be treated with compassion, respect and dignity.
  • Dedication: Improve the community’s understanding of mental health and the mind-body connection between mental and physical health.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for improved support and treatment, especially where reform is needed.
  • Collaboration: We fulfill our mission most effectively when we collaborate with others and when we actively look for partners to achieve our goals.

Where Your Donation Goes

Donations made to Anime For Humanity help us go further around the nation to provide hope and start conversations that spark change. All contributions drive our ability to secure a booth at a convention, print mental health handouts to connect attendees to professional help near them in effort to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health.

Our Staff

Our volunteers are a beam of light that speaks the language of empathy and kindness. They are a reminder to those experiencing mental health challenges that it’s okay to not be okay and that healing is possible and available.

Meet Our Mascot

KI-CHAN

Ki is a Japanese kana with many uses and definitions, with a unified sense of energy and spirit. It embodies a sense of empowerment and life. Ki-Chan is a symbol of believing in yourself and the power of friendship. She believes anime can be used as a therapeutic tool in serving mental health needs. Through relating to anime characters, it allows us to see how we can deal with mental health issues and reach out for help in times of crisis.
